boy with water song inside

1 – boy with water song
water underground
the sound of it buzzing in the base of my skull

i think when this drought ends in rain
it will also end in hope because
there’s a certain type of pessimism that comes with death

              2 – brother
links of chain connect like misfiring synapses

i whisper sometimes through the gaps in the wall and i wonder if
he’s there

when it gets too unbearable in the sun sometimes they give me a drink of water but
there’s never enough shade anymore

              3
the desert stretches out under the water song like a vast body
but the cells can’t remember what they’re supposed to be, they think
      isotonic, right?
      is this balance?

the desert sang to the bird-legs-boy and
remembered the feel of Sarel-girl’s cheek pressed to the Earth, the imprints
of her feet and fingers on the ground
the desert listened to the breathing of gazelles and the pounding footsteps of dogs and
was too tired to cry out

              4 – Nandi
the brother of birds-legs-boy sings a darker kind of song
captivity song

this is the song that sounds the most like chains
and if i concentrate i can smell ash and blood inside of him,
likes he’s been around them so often it became
a part of him

don’t trust

5 – boy with water song – epilogue
the water sings from everywhere at once
like a symphony

she dances across the sand like she can hear it too, the pulse
of drums coinciding with her every step

the water song sounds like hope, and
i heard it resonating in her very bones,
the length of a measure wrapping around her like an embrace
words that fall in off beats and write in harmonies
words that create a subtle dissonance and then
resolve themselves

on the horizon i see the softer kind of rainclouds for
the first time in years
on the horizon i see
hope
really quick poem inspired by the book "Parched" by Melanie Crowder
:)
side note: because i'm a dummy I can't figure out italics...
anyone have some advice?? :D

I really liked this! ^^  It sounds like an interesting story.

For italics, if you write by just using the 'enter text' option, then just do like this:

< i >words you want italicized< / i >

and it will look like this:

words you want italicized

Take the spaces in the carets out (I put them in because otherwise DA would italicize it), and that should take care of it.

Let me know if this helps! =)
